CPS UPDATE Class

Successful completion of a National Standardized Child Passenger Safety Training class certifies an individual as a CPS technician for two years. TIPP offers a Child Passenger Safety Update class for Child Passenger Safety Technicians to provide information on technical updates and changes made within the CPS field.  Participating in the class provides CEUs that can be used toward the re-certification requirement.  The 2012 Technical Update provides information on the revised child passenger safety recommendations, highlights occupant protection features in the car and how they affect car seat installation, provides LATCH highlights, reviews the upcoming changes to FMVSS 213, highlights car seat features and new seats, and includes a hands-on activity to explore car seat features.  The class includes 5 segments that can be taught separately or as one class. Four segments are approximately one hour in length while the fifth is two hours. All sections have been approved by National Safe Kids for one CPS CEU toward re-certification, except the hands-on activity, which is two hours and has been approved for two CPS CEUs.

The 2012 CPS Technical Update class has been approved for a total of 6 CEUs.   The class will be offered throughout the State. Scheduled classes will be posted on the website.  If you are interested in a class in your area, please contact your Regional TIPP Regional Coordinator or the TIPP office at 1-800 CAR BELT.
